Sparkling Lights Festoons at Birnam Arts

When Sparkling Lights was looking for a venue for a festoon lights themed photo shoot, we went back to our roots in the beautiful Perthshire town of Dunkeld – or more precisely Birnam, home to the remarkable Birnam Arts Centre.

Dunkeld has been around since the 9th century, and boasts one of Scotland’s most beautiful medieval cathedrals, while Birnam rose to prominence in Victorian times, with the arrival of the railway. Indeed, it was the village station master who was the inspiration behind the original “Birnam Institute” in the 1880s.

Now known as Birnam Arts, today the centre boasts a 170 seat auditorium, dance, drama and arts workshops, public library, café and exhibitions, including a permanent exhibition and garden celebrating Beatrix Potter’s connection to the area – this was her family’s favourite holiday location, and where Peter Rabbit was first thought of.

So, not only is Birnam Arts a great place to visit if you’re in the area, it also proved to be a great place for us to show off our range of low and mains voltage festoon lights – we hope you enjoy the pictures!
